✨LAST CHANCE TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT - ALZHEIMER'S SOCIETY - WORKING TOWARDS A WORLD WHERE DEMENTIA NO LONGER DEVASTATES LIVES✨
As you may be aware, over a decade ago I was diagnosed with a spinal disease (Ankylosing Spondylitis), suffering for 7+ damaged discs in my neck, back and spine. My aim for a long time has always been to run/walk the London Marathon to raise money for charity, this looks to be a long way away at this time. However, I have be invited to the 9k Watford Memory Walk 2024 for the Alzheimer’s Society on the 7th September, a charity very close to home.
Both my grandparents were diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimer's some years ago. It is a terrible, debilitating condition that takes everything from a person, not only their memory.
They say that with Alzheimer’s you do not lose the person you love once, but twice.
Alzheimer’s Society work towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
Please donate anything you can (ONLY 1WEEK LEFT) to this important and amazing charity. I have included the justgiving link below. This is the LAST CHANCE to show your support.
Thank you, Oliver 🙏🏻

✨PRIORITISING HEALTH AND WELLBEING ON RETURNING TO WORK✨
To ensure a smooth transition back to work after a long summer holiday, focusing on your health and wellbeing is crucial. Drawing insights from "The Holistic Guide to Your Health & Wellbeing Today" by Oliver Rolfe, here are key strategies to consider:
Ease Back into Your Routine Gradually
After a long break, it can be overwhelming to jump straight back into a full work schedule. Start by organising your tasks and easing into your routine. Set aside time on your first day back to prioritise and plan your week. This will prevent you from feeling overloaded and help you regain focus.
Prioritise Quality Sleep
Getting back into a proper sleep routine is key. Ensure you are getting 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night. Avoid late-night screen time and create a calming bedtime ritual that helps you unwind and prepare for restful sleep. This will help reset your circadian rhythm after any disruptions from holiday habits.
Plan Healthy, Balanced Meals
Use the post-holiday period as an opportunity to get back into the habit of preparing healthy, balanced meals. Incorporate fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins into your diet, while reducing processed foods. Nourishing your body properly will give you the energy and mental clarity you need during your workday.
Incorporate Exercise Into Your Routine
If you’ve taken a break from regular exercise during your holiday, now is the time to get back on track. Start small, with 20-30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day, such as walking, yoga, or cycling. Exercise boosts mood, improves focus, and reduces stress levels—essential as you return to the workplace.
Create Clear Work-Life Boundaries
Establishing boundaries between work and personal time is essential for your mental health. When returning to work, define clear working hours and stick to them. Once you’ve finished for the day, engage in activities that help you switch off from work, whether it’s spending time with family, hobbies, or relaxation.
Stay Hydrated Throughout the Day
Drinking plenty of water is often neglected during busy workdays, but staying hydrated is key to maintaining energy and concentration. Keep a water bottle with you at your desk and make it a habit to sip regularly. You’ll notice improved alertness and less fatigue.
Practice Mindfulness and Stress Relief Techniques
The pressures of returning to work can cause stress to resurface. Incorporate mindfulness techniques, such as deep breathing exercises, meditation, or simply taking a few moments to be present. These practices can help reduce anxiety, boost mood, and enhance productivity.
Take Regular Breaks
Sitting at your desk for long hours can take a toll on both your physical and mental health. Schedule regular breaks throughout the day to stand up, stretch, and move around. Short walks, even for just a few minutes, can refresh your mind and prevent burnout.
Set Small, Achievable Goals
Rather than overwhelming yourself with large tasks, break them down into smaller, more manageable steps. By setting achievable goals, you’ll experience a sense of accomplishment as you tick items off your list. This strategy reduces stress and keeps you motivated throughout the day.
Reconnect with Colleagues and Support Networks
The transition back to work is easier when you have a supportive environment. Take time to reconnect with your colleagues and check in with your support networks. Social interaction at work can ease the stress of returning and help maintain a positive attitude.
This holistic plan will help you return to work feeling energised, productive, and balanced, rather than overwhelmed. Remember that small, consistent steps towards improving your wellbeing will make a significant difference in your overall happiness and success at work.
